Biography
Lucas Rauch was born in 2000 in the Thuringian city of Weimar. He began playing the piano at the age of 6, but discovered his true passion for the drums at the age of 11. He initially learned the drum set, but shortly afterwards also classical percussion, gaining extensive experience in brass bands (e.g., Brass Band Hessen, Brass Band Sachsen). In addition to this scene, the jazz scene also became increasingly interesting to him. Since then, he has regularly performed in small groups as well as big bands. Today, his stylistic diversity ranges from world music to traditional jazz, rock, and special niche music.
Lucas completed his Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Drum Set at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig in 2025. There, he received lessons from Dominique “Gaga” Ehlert, Max Stadtfeld, and Professor Eric Schäfer.
He has won prizes from the “Jugend musiziert” (2017 and 2019), “Jugend jazzt” (2019 and 2022), the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben” (2019), the “Verband Deutscher Musikschulen” (2019), and the Travejazz Festival Concert Prize (2022). Since fall 2022, he has also been a scholarship holder of the “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Leipzig e.V.” and since fall 2023, a scholarship holder of the “Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes” (German National Academic Foundation).

No matter where you are starting from, Lucas will help you reach your musical goal.
In Lucas’s lessons, you have the opportunity to explore and learn the drums in a variety of ways. You will expand your knowledge of music theory through practical application, improve your technique, and learn how to translate that into musical expression on the drum kit.
You will also discover how to practice efficiently and stay motivated in the long run. The lessons introduce you to various learning concepts, foster a conceptual and creative approach, and support your continuous development in areas such as technique, sight-reading, improvisation, creativity, and general musicality.
