Biography
How it began
Lucas Rauch was born in 2000 in the Thuringian city of Weimar. He started playing the piano at the age of 6, but found his real passion for the drums at the age of 11. First he learned playing the drum set, but a little later also classical percussion, with which he gained a lot of experience in brass bands (e.g. Brass Band Hessen, Brass Band Sachsen). In addition to this scene, the jazz scene became more and more interesting for him. Since then he has played regularly in small ensembles and big bands, such as the Youth Jazz Orchestra of Saxony-Anhalt, the Weimar Big Band and many others. Today his stylistic diversity ranges from world music to traditional jazz, rock and special niche music. Since October 2020 Lucas has been a jazz drum set student at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater Leipzig with Dominique “Gaga” Ehlert, Max Stadtfeld and Professor Eric Schäfer.
